Charlton Croquet Club Launches Book Of Its History
CROQUET was first played in Charlton in the late 1870s and was played on the earthen court near the State School into the early 1880s.
With that long history, last weekend saw the launching of a history book, researched by Anne Kenny and written by Carolyn Olive with a lunch.
The club was joined at the Bowling Club rooms by the Charlton Bowling Club in a luncheon to launch the new book.
In her address to the members, Rose Curnow President of the Charlton Croquet Club announced that sales of the new book would be the only fundraiser for the club this year.
